JWs Writers deserve to be in THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS!
by abiather inhow many mistakes one can make in understanding a simple statement of jesus?
take one sample statement:.
i say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with abraham, isaac and jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

Witnesses: Why The 1/19/14 WT Lesson Is Dangerous
by Apognophos intoday's watchtower lesson touched on the history of hezekiah's reign, and then made a surprising modern-day application.
having used my time before the meeting to research the underlying material instead of highlighting my magazine, i personally found this to be an upsetting study, and decided to put this warning here in the hopes that some active witnesses read it.. the most important thing i want to say to you is that the actual flow of events in this bible account were severely misrepresented, and that there are some disturbing implications in the distortions that were made.
1. hezekiah's father ahaz makes himself a vassal to assyria out of fear of their overwhelming might (2 kings 16:7, 8).. 2. upon becoming king, hezekiah rebels against assyria (2 kings 18:7).

This is such an excellent discussion!! Usually I am bored stiff by stuff like this, but you have presented this in such an interesting way!! I love how the points are broken down and compared, and unlike the dry WT, are actually compelling to read!! Thank you so much. You have made this absolutely fascinating!! This is what a real bible study should be -- comparing notes and commentaries, noting discrepancies, discussing alternate views, sharing additional information -- awesome!!

Do You Consider Yourself An "Apostate"?
by minimus ini don't.. i consider myself a truth teller.. the watchtower society appears to be more "apostate" than even "christendom"..
-
Muddy Waters
The word "apostate" used to be a terrible, frightening thing for me, conjuring images of dark, disturbed people lurking in bushes outside Kingdom Halls, ready to spiritually shipwreck my faith... How they would do this I didn't quite know, but somehow they would seek to carry me off as their prey and fill me with lies and twisted reasonings.... It was a brutal terrifying thing. To think that someone could leave Jehovah and turn upon their brothers and sisters!! How evil they must be!!
Well, fast forward to today, lol. The word Apostate is a badge of honor to me now, knowing that I have consciously REJECTED the WTS's bullshit. It puts me in company with Jesus Christ, the Dali Lama, Bhudda, and other now-highly-esteemed people who rejected the common bull-pucky and taught about love and forgiveness and peace.
I occasionally doodle the word "apostate" on paper and decorate it with flowers and curly-cues, lol. It is a beautiful word to me now. lol :)

ARE YOU AN ANGRY and BITTER APOSTATE?
by Hummingbird001 ini have noticed that there are different reactions to learning the "truth about the truth".
some become quite bitter and angry and become very activist.
others seem to just move on quite easily.. .

Your comments makes me think that you have no family members inside that religion.
It it isn't just about lost years. Its about being shunned, it's about being hated for no other reason than you have a different belief than they do. Shunning hurts. The WT breaks up families. They take away a persons inheritance.
What are the most important things in life? If you are a balanced person, probably your first answer would be "family and friends". Now comes along a cult who threatens to take that away from you. Your children. Your parents. Your grandparents. Siblings. Your spouse. The most important people in your life.
It's also about screwing up your life and your children's lives, if you brought them up in that awful life-sucking religion. It's about a lot of things. Things which involve life's most precious assets' as Ray Franz so eloquently put it. Choice of spouse, whether or not to have children, the way you spend your time, what career choice or path you take, who you associate with, who you yourself shun because of your mind-controlled sorry state.... or if you saw or observed somebody in the congregation or your family die because they wouldn't accept blood.... Do you see? Are you beginning to understand?
The WTS is not a benign religion or a group of outwardly smiling happy people, there are fangs and teeth and brass knuckles under all that synthetic polyester....

I find I am Shunning my family !
by Phizzy inalthough i really hate the wt/jw shunning policy, which especially huts those who have been df'd, i find i am in a kind of way doing it to my jw family.. i do not include them in anything i do, in my own family gatherings, and i cannot be arsed to inform them of things going on in my family, or to even go and see them, unless really necessary.. this all adds up to a kind of "reverse shunning", and i do feel a twinge of guilt about it, but it is simply how things have become.. do you, fellow faders, find a similar thing happening ?.

Adamah, I don't think you need to be an extremist or a person who "naturally pushes other people away" to become a JW.

Why did you leave the Jehovah's Witness faith?
by God_Delusion inhi guys & gals!.
i've put together a poll on jwb that asks the simple question - why did you leave the jehovah's witnesses?.
i would really appreciate it if you could take part.
-
Muddy Waters
I didn't take the poll either, because the choices were too limiting and definite. For me, it was a cumulative building up of various things which finally tipped .....
